🔧 Role Overview
The Assistant Manager in SMS CCM – Operations & Maintenance (O&M) is responsible for ensuring smooth, efficient, and safe functioning of continuous casting processes, equipment reliability, and production targets.
🏭 Key Responsibilities
⚙️ Operations (O)
- Monitor and control continuous casting operations (billets/slabs/blooms).
- Ensure adherence to production plans and quality standards.
- Optimize casting parameters (temperature, speed, mold level, etc.).
- Coordinate with upstream (steel making) and downstream processes.
🔩 Maintenance (M)
- Plan and execute preventive and breakdown maintenance of CCM equipment.
- Ensure availability of critical spares and consumables.
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and automation teams.
- Drive initiatives for equipment reliability and uptime improvement.
📊 Process & Quality Control
- Monitor product quality and reduce defects (cracks, inclusions, etc.).
- Implement process improvements and cost optimization measures.
- Analyze data and prepare reports on performance metrics.
🛡️ Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety practices and zero-accident culture.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and statutory norms.
- Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and training sessions.
👥 Team Management
- Supervise shift engineers, operators, and technicians.
- Manage manpower planning and shift scheduling.
- Provide training and skill development for team members.
