BROKK OPERATOR

Key Responsibilities

• Operate the Brokk machine using a remote-control system.
• Perform refractory demolition and cleaning inside DRI rotary kilns.
• Remove accretions, ring formations, slag, and build-ups from kiln and process equipment.
• Assist during kiln shutdowns and maintenance activities.
• Conduct pre-start inspection and routine maintenance of the Brokk machine.
• Monitor machine performance and report defects or abnormalities.
• Maintain operational logs and maintenance records.
• Coordinate with operation, mechanical, and safety teams during shutdown work.
• Ensure housekeeping and safe work practices at the job site.
• Follow SOPs, permit-to-work systems, and plant safety procedures.

Required Skills

• Experience operating Brokk demolition machines (Brokk 100/200/300/500 etc.).
• Knowledge of DRI rotary kiln operation and refractory systems.
• Understanding of hydraulic systems and remote-control equipment.
• Ability to identify kiln blockages, ring formation, and refractory damage.
• Basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Safety Responsibilities

• Follow all PPE requirements.
• Maintain safe distance during demolition operations.
• Check machine stability before operation.
• Report unsafe conditions immediately.
• Comply with confined-space and hot-work procedures when applicable.

Qualification

• ITI / Diploma (Mechanical, Electrical, Fitter, Diesel Mechanic, or related trade preferred).
• 2–5 years of experience in Brokk operation, preferably in DRI, steel, cement, or heavy industrial plants.
• Experience in rotary kiln maintenance is an advantage.
