JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: B.Sc. Trainee
Deptt.: Water Treatment Plant (WTP)
Division: CPP
Plant Location: SSIL, Angadpur Plant, Durgapur- 15.

1. Job Purpose

To undergo structured on-the-job training in Water Treatment Plant operations and develop practical knowledge of operating and monitoring water treatment systems, while ensuring adherence to prescribed operating procedures, safety standards, and plant requirements.

2. Key Responsibilities

• Learn to run MGF, UF, Carbon Filters, RO Units, and Ion-Exchange Beds.
• Check pressure gauges, flow meters, and tank levels regularly as per schedule.
• Measure pH, conductivity, and TDS levels of treated water.
• Assist in preparing and dosing regeneration chemicals such as acid and caustic soda.
• Write down hourly log sheets and report any abnormal readings.
• Follow plant safety guidelines and wear proper safety gear at all times.

• B.Sc. from a recognized university/institution.

• Basic understanding of water treatment processes and equipment.
• Ability to accurately monitor and record operating parameters.
• Basic knowledge of pH, conductivity, and TDS measurement.
• Willingness to learn plant operations and follow established procedures.
• Ability to identify and report abnormal operating conditions.
• Strong commitment to plant safety and disciplined work practices.
• Basic communication, observation, and record-keeping skills.

6. Role Expectations

The trainee is expected to actively participate in on-the-job learning, follow instructions from the departmental HOD, maintain accurate operational records, and strictly comply with applicable plant safety requirements throughout the training period.
