Job Description

Coal Handling Plant (CHP) Operator 

🔧 Key Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor coal handling systems such as conveyors, crushers, feeders, stackers, and reclaimers.
• Ensure continuous and efficient coal supply to boilers/bunkers.
• Start, stop, and regulate equipment as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Monitor coal flow, belt loading, and equipment performance.

🛠️ Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Conduct routine inspection of belts, rollers, idlers, crushers, and screens.
• Identify blockages, belt misalignment, spillage, or equipment faults.
• Perform minor maintenance and assist maintenance teams during breakdowns.
• Ensure proper lubrication and housekeeping of the CHP area.

⚡ Safety & Compliance

• Follow plant safety rules, PPE usage, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Prevent hazards like coal dust explosions, fire risks, and belt accidents.
• Ensure proper dust suppression systems are functioning.
• Comply with environmental norms (dust control, waste handling).

📊 Monitoring & Reporting

• Maintain log sheets for coal receipt, consumption, and stock levels.
• Record operational parameters and report abnormalities.
• Coordinate with control room and boiler operators for coal demand.

🚜 Coal Yard Management

• Manage stacking and reclaiming operations in the coal yard.
• Monitor coal quality (size, moisture, foreign materials).
• Ensure proper blending if required.

👷 Skills Required

• Knowledge of coal handling systems and bulk material handling.
• Basic mechanical understanding of conveyors and crushers.
• Troubleshooting and quick decision-making skills.
• Ability to work in shifts and outdoor conditions.

🎓 Qualifications

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or related field.
• Experience in thermal power plant or material handling preferred
