Key Responsibilities

Electrical Maintenance & Operations

• Ensure smooth functioning of rolling mill electrical systems.
• Handle maintenance of:
  • Motors
  • PLCs
  • VFDs / AC-DC Drives
  • HT/LT Panels
  • Transformers
  • MCC & PCC Panels
  • Control panels and automation systems
• Attend electrical breakdowns and restore operations quickly.
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring failures.

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

• Plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules.
• Implement predictive maintenance techniques to reduce downtime.
• Maintain maintenance history and records.

Automation & Instrumentation

• Troubleshoot PLC, HMI, SCADA, and drive systems.
• Support commissioning and modification of automation systems.
• Coordinate with OEMs and vendors for technical support.

Production Support

• Coordinate with production and mechanical teams for smooth mill operation.
• Ensure maximum equipment availability and process reliability.
• Support rolling mill operations during shifts and emergencies.

Power & Energy Management

• Monitor power consumption and improve energy efficiency.
• Ensure proper load management and power factor control.
• Maintain substations and utility systems.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and SOPs.
• Conduct safety inspections and audits.
• Ensure adherence to statutory and EHS requirements.

Team Management

• Supervise engineers, electricians, and technicians.
• Provide technical guidance and training.
• Allocate manpower effectively during shifts and shutdowns.

Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain electrical drawings, reports, and maintenance logs.
• Prepare MIS reports and downtime analysis.
• Handle spare parts planning and inventory control.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of rolling mill electrical systems
• Expertise in PLCs, VFDs, SCADA, HMI
• Knowledge of Siemens / ABB / Allen Bradley drives
• Troubleshooting and fault diagnosis
• Knowledge of HT/LT systems and substations
• Team handling and leadership skills
• Good analytical and communication skills

Educational Qualification

• Diploma / B.Tech / BE in Electrical Engineering

Experience

• Typically 6–12 years in steel plant or rolling mill electrical maintenance.

Preferred Experience

• Hot Rolling Mill / TMT Bar Mill / Wire Rod Mill
• Siemens PLC (TIA Portal), ABB Drives
• Commissioning and automation projects
• Continuous process industry experience
