DEPUTY MANAGER

To ensure reliable and efficient operation of all electrical systems and equipment in the Rolling Mill by managing preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance, minimizing downtime, improving equipment reliability, and ensuring compliance with safety and statutory requirements.

2. Key Responsibilities

Electrical Maintenance

• Lead electrical maintenance activities for the Rolling Mill and associated equipment.
• Ensure maximum availability and reliability of electrical equipment.
• Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
• Monitor and troubleshoot electrical breakdowns and minimize production downtime.
• Supervise maintenance of HT/LT panels, transformers, MCCs, PCCs, VFDs, motors, drives, PLCs and control systems.
• Maintain electrical systems of rolling stands, reheating furnace, cooling bed, conveyors, shears, pinch rolls, pumps and other auxiliary equipment.
• Analyze recurring failures and implement permanent corrective actions.

Automation & Control

• Coordinate with Automation/Instrumentation teams for PLC, HMI, SCADA, VFD and drive-related issues.
• Ensure proper functioning of interlocks, sensors, protection systems and control circuits.
• Support modification and improvement projects related to electrical and automation systems.

Maintenance Planning

• Prepare annual/monthly/weekly maintenance plans.
• Maintain critical spare inventory and ensure availability of essential electrical spares.
• Coordinate shutdown maintenance activities with Production and Mechanical departments.
• Review maintenance history and identify opportunities for reliability improvement.

Team Management

• Lead and supervise Electrical Engineers, Supervisors, Technicians and contract manpower.
• Allocate jobs and monitor work execution.
• Develop the technical skills of the maintenance team through training and knowledge sharing.
• Ensure discipline, productivity and effective utilization of manpower.

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure strict compliance with electrical safety procedures and plant safety standards.
• Implement LOTO/PTW procedures during maintenance activities.
• Ensure proper earthing, electrical protection and safe working practices.
• Conduct safety inspections and participate in incident/root-cause investigations.

Cost & Improvement

• Control electrical maintenance costs and optimize consumption of power and spares.
• Identify opportunities for energy saving and reduction of electrical losses.
• Implement Kaizen, 5S, TPM and reliability improvement initiatives.
• Evaluate equipment performance and recommend modernization/upgradation where required.
