Job Description – Chartered Accountant (Steel Industry)
Position: Deputy Manager 
Qualification: Chartered Accountant (CA)

Location: Durgapur

Accounts Review:
•    Conduct comprehensive reviews of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable ledgers and supporting documents to ensure financial accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Ind AS/IFRS requirements.
•    ledger reconciliation of supplier / customers, ensuring accurate ledger balances and prompt resolution of variances.
•    Review of export and import documentation in accordance with regulations & Customs requirements.


Overseas: Payment Processing:
Advance Payments:
•    Process advance payments based on requests received from the Purchaser/User department. & arrange approvals as per approved matrix.
•    Coordinate with the HO team to ensure timely release of advance payments. Liability Payments:
•    Ensure timely processing and release of payments to Stores, Project, Raw Material vendors, and monthly contractors.
•    Release final payments after obtaining factory clearance and considering applicable PO clause.
Payment Tracking & Monitoring:
•    Track all payment requests from initiation to final release.
•    Ensure payment requests are processed within the stipulated timelines.
•    Identify, monitor, and report delays in payment processing to the concerned stakeholders.
•    Maintain regular follow-up and coordination with internal teams to ensure timely closure of pending payment cases.

 

Review PO/WO/SO:
Ensure Purchase and Sales orders are supported by approved quotations and comparison statements. Purchase/sale prices should be independently verified against the approved workings and prevailing LME rates.

Review all contractual terms and conditions, including payment terms, delivery conditions, guarantee/warranty provisions, liquidated damages (LD) clauses, tax implications (ITC eligibility, RCM applicability, etc.), and ensure selection of appropriate GL account.

Coordinate and facilitate order release in accordance with authorization matrix. Monitor orders where the contractual delivery date has expired, with particular focus on:
•    Orders against which advance payments have been made but deliveries remain pending.
•    Open orders where metal rates have not yet been finalised, ensuring timely follow-up and risk mitigation.

Establish a tracking mechanism for overdue orders and periodically report exceptions to management for necessary action and closure.

 

Costing:
Preparation of Project cost, Stores & Maintenance Cost unit wise on monthly basis. Analyse Cost of production & variance on Raw Material Consumption & overhead cost. Assist management in preparation of Standard cost (FG & SFG) to update in SAP on monthly basis

 

Audit & Internal Control:
Ensure adherence to internal controls, (SOPs), Ind AS/ IFRS requirements, while maintaining accurate and complete documentation of financial records.

Coordinate with HO & assist them in preparation of financial statement, Returns & resolving queries raised by auditors & external authorities.

Coordinate with Unit Heads & provide necessary support to Commercial, Purchase, HR department as when required.


Business development & Management Support:

Assist management in commercial negotiations, business feasibility studies, and strategic decision-making by providing financial analysis and commercial insights.

Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to strengthen internal controls, standardise processes, and improve operational eficiency.

Collaborate with SAP and IT teams to enhance system functionalities & automate processes.
