ELECTRICIAN

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance of electrical equipment in the DRI plant.
• Maintain and troubleshoot:
  • Motors and motor control circuits
  • MCC (Motor Control Centers)
  • PCC (Power Control Centers)
  • HT/LT panels
  • Transformers
  • VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives)
  • APFC panels
  • PLC-based systems
  • DOL starters and feeders
• Attend electrical breakdowns and restore equipment operation quickly.
• Inspect electrical systems regularly and identify potential faults.
• Carry out cable laying, termination, and panel wiring work.
• Monitor power distribution systems and electrical safety devices.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and breakdown reports.
• Follow lockout-tagout (LOTO) and electrical safety procedures.
• Assist in shutdown maintenance and commissioning activities.
• Coordinate with production and mechanical maintenance teams for smooth plant operation.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of industrial electrical maintenance.
• Ability to read electrical drawings and schematics.
• Troubleshooting of motors, contactors, relays, and control circuits.
• Familiarity with PLCs, VFDs, MCCs, and transformers.
• Understanding of electrical safety standards and PPE usage.
• Teamwork and shift-working capability.

Qualification

• ITI Electrician (preferred)
• Diploma in Electrical Engineering (for senior positions)

Experience

• 1–5 years in DRI/Sponge Iron Plant, Steel Plant, Power Plant, or Industrial Electrical Maintenance.
• Experience with kiln section electrical systems is often preferred.

Working Conditions

• Rotational shifts.
• Industrial environment with exposure to heat, dust, and heavy equipment.
• Mandatory use of safety PPE.
