Key Responsibilities

Production Operations

• Monitor and control rolling mill processes to achieve daily production targets.
• Ensure smooth operation of reheating furnaces, rolling stands, cooling beds, and finishing sections.
• Optimize rolling parameters such as temperature, speed, reduction ratio, and pass schedules.
• Minimize production losses, cobbles, and downtime.

Quality Control

• Ensure products meet customer specifications and quality standards.
• Monitor dimensional tolerances, surface quality, and mechanical properties.
• Coordinate with the Quality Assurance team for inspections and corrective actions.
• Implement process improvements to reduce defects and rejections.

Equipment & Maintenance

• Coordinate with maintenance teams for preventive and breakdown maintenance.
• Monitor equipment performance and identify improvement opportunities.
• Ensure proper lubrication, alignment, and operational readiness of rolling mill machinery.

Safety & Compliance

• Enforce safety procedures and use of PPE.
• Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and statutory regulations.
• Participate in incident investigations and corrective actions.

Process Improvement

• Analyze production data and identify areas for productivity improvement.
• Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Six Sigma, or Kaizen initiatives.
• Optimize energy consumption and material yield.

Team Management

• Supervise operators, technicians, and shift personnel.
• Provide technical guidance and training.
• Coordinate shift activities and manpower allocation.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in steel rolling mill operations preferred.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of rolling mill processes and steel manufacturing.
• Understanding of metallurgy and material behavior during rolling.
• Process troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Production planning and reporting.
• Safety management.
• MS Excel, ERP, and production monitoring systems.

Preferred Experience

• 2–10+ years in TMT bar, wire rod, structural steel, hot rolling, or cold rolling mills.
• Experience with continuous rolling mills and automated process control systems.

• Production target achievement.
• Mill utilization and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
• Product quality and rejection rate.
