Key Responsibilities

• Carry out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of SMS mechanical equipment.
• Assist in inspection, dismantling, repair, and assembly of mechanical components.
• Maintain equipment such as:
  • EOT cranes
  • Converters
  • Ladle handling systems
  • Continuous casting machines (CCM)
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Gearboxes, pumps, valves, and conveyors
• Replace worn-out bearings, seals, couplings, chains, and other mechanical parts.
• Perform alignment, fitting, and adjustment of machine components.
• Assist in welding, gas cutting, and fabrication jobs when required.
• Monitor equipment condition and report abnormalities to supervisors.
• Maintain housekeeping standards in the work area.
• Follow lockout-tagout (LOTO) and other safety procedures during maintenance activities.
• Record maintenance work completed in logbooks or maintenance systems.

Required Skills

• Mechanical fitting and assembly.
• Reading basic mechanical drawings.
• Knowledge of hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
• Basic understanding of bearings, lubrication, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Troubleshooting mechanical faults.
• Awareness of industrial safety practices.

Educational Qualification

• ITI Fitter (preferred).
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (depending on company requirements).

Experience

• Fresher to 2 years of experience in steel plants, heavy engineering, or industrial maintenance.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Ability to work in shifts.
• Capability to work in high-temperature industrial environments.
• Ability to lift tools/components and work at heights when required.

• Breakdown response time.
• Quality of maintenance work.
• Compliance with safety procedures.
• Housekeeping and maintenance record accuracy.
