JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Details

1. Job Purpose

To support the effective operation and monitoring of the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) and associated water chemistry activities within the CPP Division. The role involves operating and monitoring water treatment systems, conducting prescribed water quality analyses, supporting chemical regeneration and dosing activities, maintaining operational records, and ensuring compliance with applicable plant safety requirements and established standards.

2. Key Responsibilities

• Knowledge to operate MGF, UF, carbon filters, RO units, and Mixed Beds.
• Knowledge of regeneration of Mixed Beds (MB) and chemical dosing/treatment as per prescribed standards.
• Check pressure gauges, flow meters, and tank levels regularly as per schedule.
• Knowledge of Proximate and Ultimate Analysis.
• Measure pH, conductivity, TDS, etc. levels of Raw Water, Treated Water, Boiler Water, and Cooling Water.
• Assist in preparing and dosing regeneration chemicals such as acid and caustic soda, etc.
• Knowledge of Boiler Water and Cooling Water Chemistry related to the Power Plant.
• Write down hourly log sheets and report any abnormal readings.
• Follow plant safety guidelines and wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

3. Educational Qualification

• B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry from a recognized university/institution.
• Candidates with relevant technical/chemical qualifications and exposure to industrial water treatment.

4. Required Skills & Competencies

• Basic understanding of industrial water treatment processes and equipment.
• Working knowledge of water chemistry and quality parameters.
• Understanding of RO, UF, MGF, carbon filtration, and Mixed Bed systems.
• Basic knowledge of chemical dosing and Mixed Bed regeneration.
• Ability to perform and record routine chemical/water quality measurements accurately.
• Basic understanding of Boiler Water and Cooling Water Chemistry.
• Ability to identify and report abnormal operating readings.
• Good observation, documentation, and record-keeping skills.
• Strong commitment to plant safety, PPE compliance, and operating procedures.
• Ability to work effectively in a plant/industrial operating environment.
