Main Responsibilities

  1. Rigging and Lifting Work
    • Prepare and use lifting tools like wire ropes, chain pulley blocks, slings, shackles, hooks, and cranes.
    • Lift and move heavy mechanical parts such as motors, gearboxes, pipes, rollers, valves, and structures.
  2. Equipment Handling
    • Assist in installation, dismantling, alignment, and shifting of mechanical equipment.
    • Support maintenance teams during breakdown and shutdown activities.
  3. Safety Compliance
    • Follow safety rules and permit systems before lifting operations.
    • Check lifting tools and tackles before use.
    • Ensure proper load balance and safe lifting practices.
  4. Inspection of Tools
    • Inspect slings, chains, hooks, and lifting accessories regularly.
    • Report damaged or unsafe tools immediately.
  5. Coordination
    • Coordinate with crane operators, fitters, welders, and supervisors during lifting jobs.
    • Use hand signals and communication methods properly.
  6. Housekeeping
    • Keep work area clean and safe after completion of work.

Skills Required

  • Knowledge of rigging tools and lifting methods
  • Basic understanding of mechanical equipment
  • Knowledge of safety procedures
  • Ability to work at heights and in industrial areas
  • Teamwork and communication skills

Qualification

  • ITI / Skilled Rigger certification preferred
  • Experience in steel plant, DRI plant, or heavy industry is an advantage
