RMP OPERATOR

Main Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor RMHS equipment such as:
  • Conveyor belts
  • Crushers
  • Screens
  • Stacker & reclaimers
  • Wagon tipplers
  • Vibrating feeders
  • Hoppers and bunkers
• Ensure continuous supply of raw materials (iron ore, coal, dolomite, limestone) to the DRI kiln/process.
• Check belt alignment, bearing temperature, vibration, lubrication, and material flow.
• Coordinate with Mechanical Maintenance and Control Room operators.
• Handle breakdown reporting and assist during shutdown maintenance.
• Maintain housekeeping and dust control systems.
• Follow safety procedures, PPE compliance, and lockout/tagout practices.
• Record shift data, equipment status, and production logs.
• Ensure minimum downtime and smooth operation of material handling systems.

Mechanical Responsibilities

• Inspect rotating equipment and conveyor drives.
• Monitor gearbox, motors, pulleys, rollers, idlers, and couplings.
• Identify abnormal noise, overheating, belt slippage, or jamming.
• Support fitters/welders during maintenance work.
• Carry out minor troubleshooting and preventive checks.

Skills Required

• Knowledge of:
  • Conveyor systems
  • Crushing & screening systems
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Preventive maintenance
  • Industrial safety practices
• Ability to work in shifts.
• Basic troubleshooting skills.
• Good coordination with operation and maintenance teams.

Qualification

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
• Experience: Usually 3–5 years in DRI/RMHS/Steel Plant operations.
