1. Raw Material Handling Operations

  • Operate raw material handling equipment and systems.
  • Monitor the unloading, stacking, reclaiming, and transfer of raw materials.
  • Ensure uninterrupted feeding of materials to process bins, hoppers, and conveyors.
  • Coordinate with control room operators and production personnel for material requirements.

2. Dabin/Bin Management

  • Monitor raw material levels in day bins (often called "DA bins" or "day bins").
  • Ensure proper segregation and storage of different grades of raw materials.
  • Prevent overfilling, blockages, bridging, or spillage from bins and hoppers.
  • Maintain the required inventory levels for continuous kiln operation.

3. Conveyor and Equipment Monitoring

  • Inspect conveyors, feeders, screens, crushers, chutes, gates, and transfer points.
  • Report abnormal noise, vibration, overheating, misalignment, or equipment malfunction.
  • Assist maintenance teams during breakdowns and planned shutdowns.

4. Housekeeping and Safety

  • Maintain cleanliness around conveyors, galleries, bins, and transfer points.
  • Remove spillages and ensure safe working conditions.
  • Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) and other safety procedures during maintenance activities.
  • Use required PPE and comply with plant safety standards.

5. Inspection and Record Keeping

  • Record material movement, bin levels, equipment status, and operational abnormalities.
  • Prepare shift reports and hand over operational information to the next shift.
  • Report deviations affecting production or equipment reliability.

6. Coordination

  • Coordinate with:
    • Production/DRI kiln operators.
    • Mechanical maintenance teams.
    • Electrical and instrumentation departments.
    • Stores and logistics personnel handling raw materials.

  • Stacker/reclaimer systems (where installed)

  • Magnetic separators and dust extraction systems

Skills Required

  • Knowledge of RMHS operations in a DRI plant.
  • Understanding of conveyors, feeders, and material flow systems.
  • Ability to identify mechanical abnormalities.
  • Awareness of industrial safety practices.
  • Basic troubleshooting and communication skills.
