Job Title: Electrical Senior Engineer – Power Plant

Role Overview

The Electrical Senior Engineer is responsible for ensuring reliable operation, maintenance, and optimization of electrical systems within the power plant, including generation, transmission, and distribution equipment.


Key Responsibilities

1. Operation & Maintenance

  • Oversee operation and maintenance of electrical systems such as:
    • Generators, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS, and protection systems
  • Ensure maximum availability and reliability of plant electrical equipment
  • Troubleshoot faults and implement corrective actions quickly

2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

  • Plan and execute preventive and predictive maintenance schedules
  • Monitor equipment health using condition monitoring tools
  • Reduce downtime and improve system efficiency

3. Project & Commissioning

  • Lead installation, testing, and commissioning of new electrical systems
  • Coordinate with EPC contractors and vendors
  • Review technical drawings, specifications, and BOQs

4. Protection & Control Systems

  • Manage relay protection schemes and SCADA/DCS integration
  • Ensure proper functioning of protection systems for generators and grid connectivity

5. Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and regulations
  • Implement lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures
  • Conduct safety audits and risk assessments

6. Team Leadership

  • Supervise junior engineers and technicians
  • Provide technical guidance and training
  • Manage shift operations if required

7. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain logs, maintenance records, and incident reports
  • Prepare technical reports and root cause analyses (RCA)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E./B.Tech)
  • 6–12 years of experience in power plants (thermal, gas, hydro, or renewable)

Key Skills

  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Power systems and electrical machines
    • Relay protection and switchgear
    • High-voltage systems
  • Familiarity with SCADA/DCS systems
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Leadership and communication abilities
