Job Title: Senior Electrical Engineer – DRI Plant

Department: Electrical / Maintenance

Location: DRI / Sponge Iron Plant Site

Reports To: Electrical Manager / Head – Maintenance

Role Purpose

To ensure reliable operation, maintenance, and optimization of all electrical systems in the DRI plant, minimizing downtime and supporting continuous production.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operation & Maintenance

• Oversee maintenance of electrical systems in DRI units (kiln, cooler, ESP, WHRB, etc.)
• Ensure smooth functioning of HT/LT systems, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, PCCs
• Monitor and maintain drives (VFDs), motors, and control panels
• Handle breakdown maintenance with quick fault identification and rectification

2. Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

• Plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules
• Implement condition monitoring (thermography, insulation testing, etc.)
• Maintain records of equipment history and failure analysis

3. Project & Installation

• Execute electrical projects, upgrades, and modifications
• Supervise installation and commissioning of electrical equipment
• Coordinate with vendors and contractors

4. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to electrical safety standards and statutory regulations
• Conduct safety audits and implement corrective actions
• Maintain proper earthing, protection systems, and interlocks

5. Energy Management

• Monitor power consumption and identify energy-saving opportunities
• Improve power factor, reduce losses, and optimize load distribution

6. Team Management

• Lead and guide junior engineers, supervisors, and technicians
• Allocate work and ensure skill development of team members

7. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and reports
• Prepare daily, monthly maintenance and downtime reports

Key Equipment Exposure

• Kiln drives, ID/FD fans, ESP systems
• Transformers, circuit breakers, relays
• PLC/SCADA systems (e.g., Siemens, ABB)
• DG sets, UPS systems

Qualifications

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering
• 6–10+ years of experience in DRI / Steel / Power Plant

Skills Required

• Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems
• Troubleshooting and analytical skills
• Familiarity with PLC, automation, and instrumentation basics
• Leadership and team handling ability

Preferred Experience

• Experience in sponge iron / DRI plants
• Exposure to WHRB (Waste Heat Recovery Boiler) systems
