SENIOR FITTER

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of RMHS equipment in DRI plant.
• Inspect, repair, align, and replace mechanical components such as:
  • Conveyors
  • Gearboxes
  • Crushers
  • Vibrating screens
  • Feeders
  • Pulleys, rollers, and bearings
  • Chutes and transfer points
  • Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Perform fitting, assembly, dismantling, and alignment of rotating equipment.
• Monitor equipment condition and identify abnormalities to avoid production downtime.
• Attend emergency breakdowns and restore equipment within minimum time.
• Ensure proper lubrication and housekeeping of mechanical systems.
• Read mechanical drawings and maintenance manuals for troubleshooting.
• Coordinate with operations and electrical teams during shutdowns and maintenance activities.
• Guide junior fitters and contract manpower during maintenance jobs.
• Maintain maintenance logs, checklists, and spare usage records.
• Follow plant safety procedures, PPE usage, and permit-to-work system.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of RMHS equipment maintenance.
• Experience in conveyor systems and material handling equipment.
• Knowledge of bearing replacement, shaft alignment, welding support, and gearbox maintenance.
• Ability to use maintenance tools and measuring instruments.
• Basic understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.

Educational Qualification

• ITI Fitter / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering preferred.

Experience

• Typically 5–10 years in steel plant, DRI, pellet plant, or material handling maintenance.

Working Conditions

• Shift duty environment.
• Exposure to dust, heat, and heavy industrial machinery.
• Shutdown and emergency maintenance work as required
