The Senior Manager – CPP Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the Captive Power Plant to ensure uninterrupted power and utility supply to the manufacturing facility. The role includes overseeing plant operations, maintenance coordination, regulatory compliance, fuel management, performance optimization, cost control, and team leadership.


Key Responsibilities

Plant Operations Management

  • Ensure continuous and efficient operation of boilers, turbines, generators, and auxiliary systems.
  • Monitor power generation, steam balance, load management, and distribution systems.
  • Optimize plant load factor, heat rate, and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure minimum downtime and high equipment availability.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to statutory regulations, electrical safety norms, pollution control standards, and environmental guidelines.
  • Lead implementation of EHS policies and safe operating procedures.
  • Coordinate audits related to safety, electrical systems, environment, and energy management.
  • Ensure compliance with State Electricity Board, Pollution Control Board, and factory regulations.

Maintenance Coordination

  • Coordinate with maintenance teams for preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance activities.
  • Participate in shutdown planning and major overhauls.
  • Monitor critical equipment reliability and corrective action implementation.

Performance Monitoring

  • Analyze operational parameters and initiate improvements for fuel efficiency and energy conservation.
  • Monitor KPIs such as:
    • Plant Load Factor (PLF)
    • Auxiliary Power Consumption
    • Heat Rate
    • Specific Fuel Consumption
    • Turbine Efficiency
    • Forced Outage Rate

Team Management

  • Lead and supervise shift engineers, operators, and technical staff.
  • Conduct training programs for operational excellence and safety awareness.
  • Develop succession planning and team capability enhancement initiatives.

Cost & Resource Optimization

  • Control operational costs related to fuel, chemicals, water, and consumables.
  • Optimize manpower utilization and energy consumption.
  • Support budgeting and cost-saving initiatives.

Coordination & Stakeholder Management

  • Coordinate with production departments for power demand planning.
  • Liaise with external agencies, OEMs, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Support management during inspections and technical reviews.
