Job Title: Shift Incharge – Operations (DRI Unit)

Location: SSIL, Angadpur, Durgapur
Department: Operations (DRI Unit)
Reporting To: AGM Operation / Plant Head

Key Responsibilities:

1. Shift Management & Supervision

• Lead and supervise all operational activities during the assigned shift.
• Ensure smooth functioning of the DRI plant with optimal productivity.
• Allocate duties to shift personnel and monitor performance.
• Maintain discipline, safety, and adherence to company policies during the shift.
• Ensure proper shift handover with detailed reporting of plant status.

2. Temperature Monitoring & Control

• Maintain critical process temperatures (kiln, cooler, ESP, etc.) within prescribed limits.
• Continuously monitor temperature parameters through control systems and field inputs.
• Take corrective actions in case of temperature deviations to avoid process instability or equipment damage.
• Coordinate with control room operators and field staff to ensure stable thermal conditions.

3. Operational Activities

• Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for DRI production.
• Monitor key parameters such as feed rate, coal injection, kiln RPM, pressure, and product quality.
• Optimize process efficiency to achieve production targets and minimize losses.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams for timely resolution of breakdowns.
• Ensure proper material handling (iron ore, coal, dolomite, etc.).

4. Safety & Compliance

• Enforce strict safety protocols and ensure safe working conditions.
• Conduct regular safety checks and toolbox talks during the shift.
• Ensure compliance with environmental norms and pollution control measures.
• Report and investigate incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate shift logs including production data, temperature records, downtime, and incidents.
• Prepare and submit shift reports to higher management.
• Record deviations and corrective actions taken during the shift.

6. Coordination & Communication

• Communicate plant status, issues, and requirements effectively to management.
• Ensure proper manpower utilization and teamwork within the shift.
