Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of hydraulic systems.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, accumulators, manifolds, and piping.
- Maintain hydraulic power packs, lubrication systems, and cooling systems.
- Read and interpret hydraulic circuit diagrams, P&IDs, and mechanical drawings.
- Identify hydraulic faults such as pressure loss, leakage, overheating, and contamination.
- Replace seals, bearings, hoses, filters, and hydraulic components as required.
- Conduct alignment, assembly, and dismantling of hydraulic equipment.
- Monitor hydraulic oil quality and coordinate oil filtration and replacement.
- Ensure proper commissioning of repaired hydraulic equipment.
- Maintain maintenance records, job cards, and spare parts consumption.
- Coordinate with production and electrical/instrumentation teams during shutdowns and breakdowns.
- Supervise junior fitters and contractors during maintenance activities.
- Follow safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, and hot work requirements.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability.
- Maintain housekeeping in the work area according to 5S standards.

Required Qualifications
- ITI/Diploma in Fitter, Mechanical Engineering, or a related trade.
- Hydraulic maintenance certification is preferred.
Experience
- 8–12 years of experience in hydraulic maintenance in a steel rolling mill, integrated steel plant, or heavy engineering industry.
- Experience in hot rolling or cold rolling mills is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of hydraulic systems and components.
- Ability to read hydraulic and mechanical drawings.
- Troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance practices.
- Familiarity with hydraulic testing instruments (pressure gauges, flow meters, etc.).
- Basic computer skills for maintenance reporting.
- Good communication and team coordination skills.
Safety Responsibilities
- Strictly follow plant safety rules and permit-to-work systems.
- Ensure Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) before maintenance.
- Use appropriate PPE at all times.
- Report unsafe conditions and near misses immediately.
- Ensure safe handling and disposal of hydraulic oil and waste materials.

- Equipment uptime and availability.
- Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).
- Breakdown frequency.
- Preventive maintenance compliance.
- Hydraulic oil leakage reduction.
