Job Title: Trainee – Operations (DRI Unit)

Location: SSIL, Angadpur, Durgapur
Department: Operations (DRI Unit)
Reporting To: Asst. Shift Incharge / Shift Incharge

Job Purpose:

To support the Asst. Shift Incharge/Shift Incharge in day-to-day plant operations and assist in maintenance activities, ensuring smooth, safe, and efficient functioning of the DRI unit while gaining hands-on operational experience.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assistance in Shift Operations

• Assist the Asst. Shift Incharge/ Shift Incharge in monitoring and controlling DRI plant operations during the shift.
• Support in maintaining process parameters such as temperature, pressure, feed rate, and kiln performance.
• Help in ensuring smooth running of kiln, cooler, and associated equipment.
• Follow instructions from the Asst. Shift Incharge/ Shift Incharge for operational adjustments.

2. Support in Temperature Monitoring

• Assist in recording and observing temperature readings of kiln zones, cooler, and other critical points.
• Inform the Asst. Shift Incharge/ Shift Incharge about any abnormal temperature fluctuations.
• Help in implementing corrective actions as directed.

3. Maintenance Support

• Assist maintenance teams during routine, preventive, and breakdown maintenance activities.
• Help in equipment inspection, cleaning, and minor maintenance tasks.
• Ensure tools and materials are available and properly handled during maintenance work.

4. Field Operations

• Perform regular field rounds to check equipment condition and process parameters.
• Identify and report leakages, unusual noises, vibrations, or unsafe conditions.
• Assist in material handling and ensure proper feeding of raw materials (iron ore, coal, etc.).

5. Safety & Compliance

• Follow all safety rules, PPE requirements, and operational guidelines.
• Participate in safety drills and toolbox talks.
• Report unsafe conditions and near-miss incidents promptly.

6. Documentation & Learning

• Maintain basic records of operational data as instructed.
• Assist in preparing shift reports and logs.
• Learn plant processes, SOPs, and best operational practices.
• Actively develop technical skills and knowledge of DRI operations.

7. Coordination

• Work closely with the Asst. Shift Incharge/ the Shift Incharge, operators, and maintenance teams.
• Ensure clear communication regarding plant conditions and tasks.
